Fix Bluestacks Error 2318 During Installation / Uninstallation

Bluestacks is one of the most powerful and the most used Android emulator in the world. The Bluestacks player offers easy to use User Interface and of course it is free to use. However, at times some error my interrupt the users and one such error is Bluestacks error 2318 that occurs when you are installing Bluestacks or uninstalling it. Here is how to fix it in Windows 10, 7, XP.

Reasons for Bluestacks error 2318:

There are a couple of reasons why Bluestacks error 2318 may occur. It is one of the common Bluestacks errors. It can be because of corrupt registry files or can be because of some third-party software or hardware in your PC that is preventing the installation. The reason can be anything, what you should know is how to fix Bluestacks error 2318. So, here is how to do it.

Fix 1: Scan your PC for Malware or Virus

One of the reasons why you may face the error 2318 in Bluestacks is because of some virus or malware that is preventing the installation. At times, if your PC gets infected with the virus or malware, it may perform abnormally.

What you can do here is make sure you scan the PC completely for any malware or virus.

The second step is to make sure that you download the fresh copy of Bluestacks from the official website or from here. As the third-party sources, serving Bluestacks files may have some unwanted programs injected in them. So be careful about it.

Fix 2: Restart Windows Installer

Windows installer helps the users to install any software on their PC. However, if the problem is with the Windows Installer, you may get stuck with errors like Bluestacks error 2318.

What you can do to fix this is, restart the windows installer and then try again to install or uninstall the Bluestacks player.

To restart Windows Installer, do the following:

On Windows 10, 8/8.1: Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).

On any other version of Windows, search for Command Prompt, right-click on it and select Run as Administrator.

Once in the command prompt window, enter these command one by one and hit enter to execute them.

net stop msiserver
net start msiserver

After executing these commands, close the command prompt window.

Now try installing Bluestacks again and see if the error 2318 is fixed.

Fix 3: Install Bluestacks in Clean Boot Mode

At times, third-party services and software can also become hurdle and may throw Bluestacks error 2318. To fix this what you can do is start the PC in clean boot mode.

When you start your PC in clean boot mode, the PC will start with only system apps and services. So, if a third-party app is causing Bluestacks error 2318 then starting in clean boot mode you should fix it.

To start your PC in clean boot mode, do the following.

Press Windows Key + R, type msconfig in the Run dialogue box and hit enter. It will open System Configuration window.

In the General tab, uncheck Load startup items. And make sure Load System services and Use original boot configuration is checked.


Now click the Services tab, check “Hide all Microsoft Services.” Doing this is important, as it will hide all Microsoft services in the current tab.

Next, click on Disable all to disable all the services except Microsoft services which are already hidden.


Click on Apply and then OK. Now restart your PC.

Once the PC restarts, try to install Bluestacks and see if the Bluestacks error 2318 is fixed.

Fix 4: Fix Registry Entries

At times, the old registry entries or corrupted registry entries can also prevent installation of a Bluestacks, and you may end up with Bluestacks error 2318.

To fix this, we can delete the old registry entries related to Bluestacks and then begin the installation process again.

Press Windows Key + R, type Regedit in the Run dialogue box and hit enter. It will open Registry Editor.

In the Registry Editor, press Ctrl + F.  It will open Find tool. In the find tool, type Bluestacks and hit enter.

It will show all the entries related to Bluestacks. Now delete all the entries that are related to Bluestacks.

That’s it. Once done deleting all the entries related to the Bluestacks, run the installer again and you should have fixed the Bluestacks error 2318.
