Never10 is a handy little tool developed by a software developer known as Steve Gibson. The utility known as Never10 allows you to stop Automatic Windows 10 upgrade on your Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 PCs. So, if you don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10 and want to stick with your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 OS, here is how to disable automatic Windows 10 upgrade.
You may say why there is a need to disable Windows 10 automatic upgrade as I have the option not to install Windows 10. However, there has been reports that Microsoft might have been automatically upgrading the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 running PCs without asking the users. That is when your PC is connected to the internet, and if you have Genuine Windows 7/8.1, Microsoft will download the Windows 10 upgrade and install it for you.
Microsoft Windows 10 was released as a free upgrade to Genuine Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. The upgrade was free for the first year. Which means, if you try to upgrade your PC after one year of the Windows 10 release, you have to buy the license for the product.
Nevertheless, about 200 Million PCs were registered to have Windows 10 running which can be seen as a success for the Windows 10. However, not everyone wants to upgrade as of now.
There have been reasons such as Windows 10 not being fully stable, lack of support for few drivers and hardware, lack of support for old hardware by the OEMs, etc. This made few people stay with their current stable releases that are Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.
However, Microsoft has been trying hard to push the Windows 10 to the users. It has been sending push notifications to the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users who are eligible for Windows 10 upgrade. Going a bit too far in the process of promoting Windows 10, some users have reported that Microsoft has allegedly installed Windows automatically without letting the users know.
Now if you are one of those who don’t want Microsoft to install Windows 10 on your PC without your consent, then the Never10 will help you to disable automatic Windows 10 upgrade in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
