Personal Unlocking Key or PUK code is security code for your SIM card. The PUK code is required to unblock your SIM card in case it gets blocked or locked because of entering the wrong PIN for three times in your phone. The first thing you should be doing after getting PUK code error is that you should not try any password combination to unlock your phone as only your carrier will be able to give you the PUK code for your SIM. So, the first step is to keep your phone aside and try to find the PUK code for the SIM. later you can easily unblock the SIM card by entering the PUK code.
The frustrating part of getting your phone blocked requiring PUK code is that without entering the PUK code you won’t be able to make a call or send a text message. You even won’t be able to use your phone, if you chose to keep the SIM card in the phone. The only way out is to pop out the SIM card and use your phone.

Method 1: Find PUK Code Calling the Carrier
The best bet is to call your carrier or operator to get the PUK code. Your carrier is the only authorized entity who can give you the PUK code for your SIM and let you unblock it.
Since, your phone is already blocked, you won’t be able to use your phone to make a call. What you can do here is to lookout for a person who has the same carrier as yours and ask them to make a call to the carrier customer care.
Once you explain your problem, they’ll ask you some personal details to verify the ownership of the SIM. Once confirmed, they’ll tell you the PUK code. Write down the PUK code instead of directly trying to enter the code. Alway double-check the PUK code from the customer care executive.
Once you have the PUK code with you reboot your phone and when asked to enter the PUK code, do it. Make sure, you enter the right code in first few attempts as you will only have 10 attempts at max. If you enter right PUK code, you should be able to unblock your SIM and the phone.
Method 2: Use the Web to find the PUK Code
Now if you couldn’t find anyone with the same carrier as yours, then you will not be able to contact the customer care service center. In such situations, you have to look for alternative methods.
Your best bet here is to look for a way to get your PUK code online. Many carriers offer online tools to get your PUK code after filling the form with right information. Google your carrier name with PUK code query and you should find related search results. Enter the official website of your carrier and see if you can get the PUK Code.
One thing to remember here is that you will only get 10 attempts to enter your PUK code and unblock the SIM. If you fail to do so, your SIM will be blocked forever and you may need to buy a new SIM.
