As promised by Microsoft the Windows 7 / Windows 8 / 8.1 genuine users will be able to upgrade their computer to Windows 10 as a free upgrade. Now, there are two ways through which you can install Windows 10 on PC. The first method is directly upgrading to Windows 10 from current Windows 7 / 8 /8.1 as in-place upgrade. The second method is to perform a clean install of Windows 10. To perform clean install of Windows 10 you would need Windows 10 ISO file, which can be downloaded from Microsoft’s server. Unlike previous version of Windows, you cannot download the Windows 10 ISO file from digital river or from any other server officially. Microsoft has stopped providing ISO file directly to prevent piracy of its software. However, you can still download the Windows 10 ISO file using the Windows Media Creation tool. All you have to do is download and run the Media creation tool and download the Windows 10 ISO file instead of upgrading your PC. Here is how to do it.

Here is a quick look at the steps you need to follow to get Windows 10 ISO File from Microsoft using Windows Media Creation tool.

Step 1: Download the Media Creation Tool

Download Media Creation Tool from the below link based on your current Windows version.

If you are not sure what version of Windows you are running, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Under System look at the value from System type: It should show 32-bit or 64-bit version. Based on that download media creation tool from the above given link.

Step 2: Run the Tool

Once you have downloaded the tool, run it.  Next, you will see two option “Upgrade this PC now” and “Create installation media for another PC”. Select “Create installation media for another PC”.

You can only install Windows 10 Home if you have Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 Home installed, and the Windows 10 pro will be only available for Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 pro users.
