Backup Contacts and SMS to SD Card on Windows Phone

If you have used Transfer my Data App, then you know that you can easily backup contacts and SMS to SD Card on Lumia Windows Phones. However, now Microsoft has released its new app called Contacts + Message Backup. As the name indicates, this app allows you to backup SMS and Contacts to SD card on your Windows Phone running smartphones including Lumia’s and Non Lumia devices. Here is how to use the app to do the same.

How to Backup Contacts and Messages to SD card in Windows Phone

The contacts+message backup app is available for download from Windows Phone store for free. However, when you install the app, it does not show up in the list of installed apps, but adds an entry to the settings app called contacts+message backup. And you will be using the same entry in the settings to Backup messages and contacts to SD card. Here is how to do the same.

Step 1: Download and Install contacts+message backup app from Windows Phone Store on your smartphone.

Step 2: Once installed, tap on Settings from the apps.

Step 3: Under Settings, scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on contacts+message backup.

Step 4: Next, you have to tap on Accept button to agree to Terms.

Step 5: Next, tap on Backup button.

Step 6: Now, select the item that you would like to backup. Contacts, SMS and MMS etc and tap on Backup button. This will initiate the backup process.

Wait till the Backup process is completed. Once done, you can be sure that all your contacts and messages have been backed up to your SD card.

In case you want to restore the created backup, you can do it using the same contacts+message backup app on your device. To restore the backup, go to Settings and tap on contacts+message backup. Next select restore to initiate the restoring process.
