Playstation is the successor of Playstation 3 and comes several with new features and one of them is the ability to connect your Headphone to PS 4 controller and listen the Audio. This makes sure that you play comfortably without worrying of breaking your headphone cable during the exited gameplay. Nevertheless, here is how you can enable Audio / Sound on PS 4 controller and use headphone with it as by default this feature disabled or restricted to chat audio only.
As I said earlier, if this is the first time you are setting up your PS 4, then you won’t be able to directly connect your headphone to PS 4 controller and listen the audio as the Audio via controller is by default restricted to Chat Audio only. However, you can change the settings anytime and change it to all audio output via the Dualshock 4 Controller. Here is how you can do the same.
How to Enable Sound on PS4 Controller and Use Headphone
Step 1: Power on your PS 4.
Step 2: Once it’s up, press and hold PS button (could be found between the joysticks) on your PS 4 (Dualshock 4 Controller). This will bring up the Quick Menu on your screen.
Step 3: Next, select Adjust Sound and Devices.
Step 4: Now, scroll down a bit and select Output to Headphones.
Step 5: As you can see, by default it is set to Chat Audio only. All you have too do is change the Output to Headphone to All Audio. If you want you can also adjust the Volume for your headphone in the same menu.
That’s it. Now press PS button once again to return back to XMB menu. Now plug-in your headphone and listen the Audio Output or plug-in your speaker if you use one instead of Headphone. Simply unplug the headphone cable to direct the Audio to your TV speakers.
