I my previous post I have mentioned about how the Android 5.0 Lollipop users can record their Android screen without rooting and using the computer with ease. However, this is not same with older version of Android users using Android 4.4 KitKat or Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. But, as always here is a work around you can use to record your Android screen on your computer without rooting your device.
Although, there is a method through which you can record your Android 4.4 KitKat running device screen, but it requires you to have a rooted device. Nonetheless, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update allowed the developers to develop android screen recording software without needing root access.
However, not every Android smartphone got updated to the latest Android 5.o Lollipop update, hence the users stuck on older version cannot make use of the new screen recording feature.
Now what if you have an Android device running Android 4.4 KitKat OS that too without root access and you want to record the screen? Well, you can still record your Android screen by using your computer without having root access.
How to Record Android Screen on Computer without Rooting
For this we will be using a ADB script, which will allow you to record Android screen using the computer without root access. This script easier to use and can record almost anything on your screen. Here is how you can do it.
Step 1: Enable USB Debugging on your Android smartphone and Tablet
Before you start recording your screen you have enable USB Debugging option on your device from Developer option. If already have enabled USB debugging then proceed with step. If not, here is how to enable USB debugging on Android device.
Go to Settings >> About >> Software Information >> Tap 7 times on Build Number to enable Developer option.
Now again go to Settings >> Developer options >> USB Debugging and enable it.
Step 2: Download and Extract ADB Script
Once you have enable USB Debugging on your Android device, connect it to your PC / Computer using data cable. Next, download Android Screen Recorder script to your computer. Once downloaded, extract the Zip file to a new folder. In the extracted folder you should see 2 batch files and a adb folder with necessary files to run the script.
Step 3: Run the Screen Recorder Script
Now that you have connected your Android device to PC and extracted the Zip file, open the folder where you have extracted the files. Right click on AndroidRecordScreen file and select Run as Administrator.
A Command window will appear showing your connected device model, screen resolution, bit rate and max time.
To begin the recording of your screen press any key on your keyboard. Now a new Command window will appear, which means recording of your screen has started. Now whatever you do on your device will be recorded.
Once you have completed the recording, simply close the recording window. Wait till your file is saved and you get “Done. The recording has been copied to rec.mp4) message on your screen. Next, press any key to exit.
That’s it. You have successfully recorded and saved your screen as MP4 video in your computer. To view the video, open the same folder where you have extracted the file and you should see your video listed at the bottom.
