Step 1: Download and Install USB Raptor
To do this, we will be using a free software utility called USB Raptor. With this you can use your USB flash drive to lock and unlock your Windows PC. All you have to do is, install it, make few settings and you are good to go. Now download and Install USB Raptor on your PC.
Step 2: Setup USB Flash Drive
Once you have installed USB raptor, connect your USB flash drive to your PC and open USB Raptor. Next, you need to enter a password for encryption. Now select your USB drive and click on create K3y file.
This will create an encrypted key file on your USB drive. Once done, select Enable USB Raptor.
That’s it. You have successfully turned a USB flash drive into key for unlocking and locking your PC. In case, you misplace the USB drive, then you can manually enter the password to unlock your PC. This would simply reduce the hassle of entering password every time you login to your PC. Especially, when you have to unlock your PC in a crowded place and you have risk of disclosing your password.
