Xbox One is the latest offering from Microsoft and is the successor of Xbox 360. This is a powerful gaming machine with streaming abilities for multimedia content. However, with time the Xbox One may become tad slower or your apps and games may start freezing. Although, this doesn’t happen every other day, still when it happens a Factory or Hard reset of Xbox One is recommended. Here is how you can Factory Reset and Hard Reset Xbox One easily.

How to Hard Reset Xbox One

Before you proceed do read to know what these terms actually means. Hard Reset is a the first method you should try if your games have started to stuck or freeze. A Hard Reset is simply a complete reboot of your system using physical or virtual Hard Reset button. Follow these steps to do the same.

There are two ways to Reset your Xbox One.

Step 1: Use Physical Key

Press and Hold the glowing Xbox logo on your console for few seconds. Soon your Xbox One will restart after a hard reset.

Step 2: Reset from Settings

Turn on Xbox One and go to  Settings app. Under Settings, go to Power and Start Up menu. Select Restart Now to reset your device.

How to Factory Reset / Restore Factory Defaults Xbox One

Factory Resetting your Xbox One will completely wipe out everything on your console. This is only recommended when you have some serious issue with your Console. This would also come in handy, if you are planning to sell your Xbox One and want to completely erase  everything from your console including all the saved games and multimedia content. 

Step 1: Turn on your Xbox One device. Wait till it completely starts. 

Step 2: Next, click on My Games and Apps using your Controller.

Step 3: From the left side sidebar, select Apps tab.

Step 4: Under apps, find Settings (Gear icon) option and open it.

Step 5: Under Console section, open System option.

Step 6: Under System section, you should see Location and Storage options. Under Storage section, click on Restore Factory Defaults.

Step 7: In the pop-up Window, select Restore factory defaults  button. 

That’s it. Once your Xbox One is successfully restored to factory default, your system will perform like a new one.
