How to Edit MS Office Files in Dropbox on Android, iPhone/iPad

Dropbox allows you to store, sync and share files online with free 2GB of online storage. Dropbox app for Android and iOS (iPad and iPhone) also allows you to store and share your Microsoft office documents such as word document, presentations etc. However, the earlier version of Dropbox app didn’t provide any option to edit the document, but the latest version of the same allows the users to edit their Microsoft office documents directly from the app. Here is how to edit Microsoft files in Dropbox for Android and iPhone / iPad.

How to Edit MS Office Files in Dropbox on Android, iPhone/iPad

Note: As noted in the beginning the latest edit feature is not available in the older version of Dropbox app, hence you have to update your Dropbox app to the latest version. Links could be found in the steps below.

Step 1: Update your Dropbox to the latest available version from the respective stores.  Android users can download the latest version of Dropbox app from Google Play store here. And the iOS users can download the latest version of Dropbox app from Apple Apps store on their iPhone and iPad.

Step 2: Once you have updated the Dropbox app, launch it on your iOS or Android device.

Step 3: Browse and the find the file you would like to edit. Open the file and tap on the Edit icon. Tapping on Edit icon will prompt you to install Microsoft Office Mobile app, if you have not already installed the same.  If you don’t have the app already installed, then tap on the Office Mobile link, which will take you to the Google Play store to download the Office Mobile app. Proceed with the download and installation of the app. 

Step 4: Once you have installed the app (Mobile Office), open the file again in Dropbox and tap on Edit icon.  Next, authorize the Microsoft Office Mobile app to access your Dropbox account.

Step 5: After the successful authorization, your file will open in your Office Mobile app, allowing you to edit and make necessary changes to the document. Once you have completed editing the file, simply tap on back button and your edited file will be saved and uploaded to the Dropbox account.  

That’s it. You have successfully edited and save Microsoft Office files in Dropbox on Android and iPhone and iPad.
