How to Save Maps for Offline Use in Windows 10


With the release of Windows 10, Microsoft will be adding the latest version of its OS with the brand new Bing Maps app. As the name indicates, the Map will be powered by Bing maps. Apart from Windows 10 PCs the same app will also available for Windows 10 smartphones and tablets. Additionally, the Maps app in Windows 10 also allows the users to save maps for offline use, so that the users can use maps offline even if they are not connected to the internet. Follow this guide to know how to save maps for offline use on Windows 10.


How to Save Map for Offline Use in Windows 10

Downloading maps for Offline use in Windows 10 could be done from the Maps settings. Follow these steps to know how to do it.

Step 1:  Open Maps app on your Windows 10 device.

Step 2: Click on Settings to open the Settings page. The Settings page can be opened by clicking on Gear icon (bottom left).

Step 3: Under Settings page, find Offline maps section and click on Download and update maps. If you see no maps being listed, then click on Plus (+) button to download the new maps.

Step 4: In Download a map window, you will see six continents being displayed.

Step 5: Click on any of the continent. Next, all the countries in that continent will be displayed. Every listed country will show the size of the map in MBs.

Step 6: Click on the country for which you want to download the map. Depending on your internet speed, the map will take anywhere from few seconds to few minutes to completely download it on your Windows 10 device.

That’s it. Once you have downloaded the map, you can use it offline even without having internet connection. You can access all your downloaded maps from Bing Maps settings. In case, if you want to delete downloaded maps, you can do this from Settings as well.
