How to Mute a Hidden Video Advertisement Audio in Chrome

New methods of advertisements pops-up everyday, which helps the blog owner to monetize their blog well. One of them is video advertisements, which automatically starts playing when you open a web page. What’s more annoying is that  you could only hear the sound, but can’t really figure out where the video ad has been placed in that web page. Most of the time they are hidden from the users. The video advertisements continuously replay, and without knowing their position you just can’t stop them. However, there is a work around which would allow you to turn off the sound or mute the video advertisements completely.  Here is a simple step by guide on how to mute video advertisement in Chrome.

How to Mute a Hidden Video Advertisement Audio in Chrome 

Before we proceed with the steps, let’s see how it works. Recently Chrome introduced or added a speaker icon, which appears on the tab whenever an audio is played in Chrome. If you haven’t noticed it, then you can see it by playing an audio or video using any streaming services. This to indicate that the audio is being played in that current tab. However, you can use that Speaker icon as Mute Button by enabling this feature in Chrome. Do note that, the feature currently not available as default, but you have to enable it from Chrome://Flags as a experimental feature.

Step 1: Open Chrome on your PC and type in the following address:

chrome://flags

Step 2: Hit enter to open the Flags page.

Step 3: Next, step is to find the audio muting UI control.  Press Ctrl + F on your Keyboard. A search bar will appear, in that search bar search for “Enable Tab Audio Muting UI Control”.

Step 4: Once you have found it, click on Enable button to enable the feature.

Step 5: At the bottom, you should a see message saying “Your changes will take effect the next time you relaunch Google Chrome. Click on Relaunch Now, to restart Chrome browser.

That’s it. Now again try to play any audio on your browser. Whenever the speaker icon appears, click on it to mute the audio. You can unmute by doing the same. This should really help you when you don’t want to get disturbed by a random audio while reading an interesting story.
