How to Fix Start Menu Not Working Error in Windows 10 Technical preview


Microsoft Windows 10 is currently available as Technical preview for the users, however the stable version of the same would be available for public release in coming months. Users with Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9926 are facing problem while opening Start Menu including Cortana  and Search feature. How to Fix Start Menu Not Working Error in Windows 10 Technical preview

Not functioning of Start Menu could be because of several reasons. However, give this workaround a try, you never know you might get your Start Menu working again. 

Note: Take backup of any data you have saved in the Modern Apps as the apps will be re-installed in the process.

Step 1: Press Ctrl + R  on your keyboard, type in powershell and hit enter.

Step 2: Now right-click on PowerShell and select Run as Administrator.

Step 3:  In the Powershell command window, type in the following line of code:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} 

Step 4: Now PowerShell will execute the command. Don’t worry if you see few errors, wait till it completes. 

Step 5: Once done, click on Start to see if your Start Menu is working fine.

Following the above steps should solve your Windows 10 Technical preview Start Menu not working problem. However, in case it doesn’t you may need to try some additional steps.

Go to Action Center, activate Tablet Mode. Next, click on Start Menu, if it works, then get to back to normal mode or desktop mode.
