Autocorrect in Android is a very handy feature, which helps you to type quickly by auto-correcting your entered words. This feature comes in handy for the people who text a lot and wants to do it fast. All you have to do is the type the word and rest will be taken care by autocorrect on your Android. However, this handy feature could be frustrating at times for the users who prefer to write in non-English language in English. Whenever you try to write your native language in English, autocorrect tries to match your words to English words resulting in unwanted predictions and suggestion. Now if you don’t want to get annoyed of this autocorrect feature then a good idea would be to disable autocorrect on Android. Follow this step by step tutorial to know how to  turn off autocorrect on android Phone and Tablet.

How to Turn Off Autocorrect on Android Phone and Tablet

Follow below given steps to know how to turn off autocorrect on Android.

Step 1: Unlock your Android Phone or Tablet and tap on Menu.

Step 2: Tap on Settings and under Personal go to Language and Input.

Step 3: Under Keyboard and Input Methods, tap on Settings icon (Gear icon) beside your current Keyboard.

Note: In below image it shows Asus Keyboard. You may have different keyboard based on your device manufacturer.

Step 4: Under Key input section, tap on Auto-Correction and from the pop-up window select  Off.

Step 5: If you see “Show correction suggestions” option, tap on it and select “Always Hide” from the pop up window.

Following the above given steps should  turn off autocorrect on Android Phone. It should also stop predicting words in future. However, you can turn on autocorrect back by following the same steps and selecting turn on auto-correction and correction suggestions.

Other feature you could change from Keyboard settings is Auto-capitalization – automatically capitalizes the first letter o f a new sentence. Auto-punctuation – allows you to insert a period by pressing the space key twice at the end of the word. Enable Auto-spacing –  allows you to insert space after every word automatically, personal dictionary – allows you to add your own choice of words and use it later while writing etc.
