Recording your computer and Mac screen is easier with the available screen recording tools for PC and Mac. However, when it comes to smartphones and tablets then you don’t have much options to do the same. Fortunately, with Apple’s OS X 10.10 Yosemite running Mac you could be able to record iPhone and iPad screen.
This feature comes in handy when you have to record something from your iPhone, which is not available or could not be done on your Mac. To do this, we would be using Quicktime player on your Mac by connecting your iPhone to it. You would also a need lightning cable to connect your iPhone to Mac as this task could not be achieved wirelessly.
So, keep your iPhone, Mac and Lightning cable ready and proceed with below steps to know how to record iPhone and iPad’s screen from Mac.
What you need?
- iPhone running iOS 8.
- Mac running OS X 10 Yosemite.
- A Lightning cable to connect your iPhone to Mac.
How to Record iPhone’s Screen from Mac
Step 1: Unlock your iPhone and connect your lightning cables one end to it.
Step 2: Connect another end of lightning cable to your Mac.
Step 3: Open / Launch Quicktime Player on your Mac.
Step 4: Now, click on Files and select New Movie Recording from the list.
Step 5: Now you will see a new window with red record button.
Step 6: Click on dropdown button (∨) beside record button .
Step 7: From Camera section select your iPhone (or your iPhone name) and from Microphone section select your iPhone as well.
Step 8: You will start seeing your iPhone screen on your Mac screen.
Step 9: Now click on that Red button to start recording.
Step 10: Quicktime player will start recording your iPhone screen and when you are finished recording, click on Red button again to stop recording.
Step 11: Next, you will be prompted to save your recorded file. You can also do it manually by going to file and then Save. Give a name to your file, choose target folder and click on Save.
