There are several ways, by which you can secure your Gmail account and Google account. One of them is two-step verification by Google. By enabling two-step verification on Gmail account, you can make it more secure than any other account without this verification.
Two-step verification is an extra layer of security added to your Gmail account to keep it safe from unauthorized access. Setting up two-setup verification is easy and may take few minutes to complete the setup process. Follow these steps to know how to set up two-step verification in Gmail account.

How to Set up two-Step verification in Gmail
Step 1: Sign into your Gmail account by visiting Gmail.com.
Step 2: Once you log in, go to this two-step verification page.
Step 3: Next, Click on Start Setup.
Step 4: Next step is to enter and verify your mobile number.
Step 5: If you already have a verified Mobile number with Gmail then you will see your number automatically filled in, but in case you have not verified any number then enter your mobile number and click on Send Code.
Note: Before clicking on Send code, choose how you want to receive your codes via Text message or Voice call.
Note: Be sure that you have selected your country
Step 6: Now you will receive a 6 digits code by SMS or Voice call.
Step 7: Enter the same 6 digit code in verification field and click Verify.
Step 8: In the next window, you will be asked whether to trust this computer or not.
Step 9: Check “Trust this computer” if you are using your personal computer else uncheck it and click on Next. Next time when you will login successfully to your Gmail account Google will again ask you to check this computer as trusted. So do that if you are on your personal computer.
Step 10: Next step is to confirm two-step verification. Click on Confirm and you are done!
That’s it! You have set up two-step verification successfully in Gmail. Next time if someone tries to open your account from an unknown computer you will receive a code on your mobile phone. You have to enter that code to open your Gmail account. This way you can ensure that no other or unknown person can access your Gmail account without your permission.
What if I have to use an untrusted computer, and you don’t have my phone as well?
This can happen to anyone, but thankfully, Google has given two backup options to overcome this issue. As a backup option either you can add an extra number if you have any or you can use backup codes. Follow below step to do the same.
Step 1: Go to Google two-step verification backup page.
Step 2: Scroll down and select your backup option (Backup numbers or Backup code).
step 3: If you select Backup number then provide your second mobile number and verify it.
Step 4: If you select Back codes then click Print or Download and save those codes as a text file.
Note: You can use the one code once only.
