Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome are the three popular web browsers and have their pros and cons. Though, Internet Explorer is obsolete with the release of Windows 10, the old Windows running PCs should still be running them. Here we will not be discussing these browsers pros and cons, but about how you can change default search engine on these browsers.

Every browser comes with a different search engine as their default search engine like Internet Explorer comes with Bing, Mozilla Firefox with Ask and Google Chrome with obviously Google. But, what if you want to use Google search engine on Internet Explorer and Bing on Google Chrome or Firefox? You can do this by changing the default search engine to your preferred one from the browsers settings,

So, here is a guide on how to change default search engine in Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows PC.

Change Default Search Engine on Firefox

Compared to Chrome and Internet Explorer changing default search engine is very easy in Firefox. All you have to do is Open Firefox and at the top right-hand side click on search engine icon and select the search engine you wish to set.

Step 1:  Open Firefox.

Step 2: At the right side corner clicks on search engine icon (e.g., Google, Bing or Yahoo) (refer image below).

Step 3: Now select the search engine you want to select as default (see image above).

Change Default Search Engine in Internet Explorer

To change the Internet Explorer default search engine do the following.

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer.

Step 2: Click on the drop down Icon at the top right corner.

Step 4: Now you’ll see something like below image.

Step 5: Click on your preferred search engine icon and in the next window click on Add to Internet Explorer and check “Make this as my default search provider “box.

Change Default search Engine in Google Chrome

Unlike Firefox and Internet Explorer Google Chrome has a slightly different setting to change the search engine.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome.

Step 2: Click on Menu Icon and then on Settings.

Step 3: Scroll down to search section.

Step 4: Here you’ll see your default search engine, click on it.

Step 5: Now from the drop down menu select your search engine.

If you don’t find your search engine in the drop-down menu, then click on Manage Search Engine. In the next window, you can select your preferred search engine.

That’s it! You have successfully changed the default search engine in  Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox.
