This latest migration tool uses “OAuth Authorization” to connect to your Gmail account and imports or transfers all your Gmail emails to your Outlook account. The new migration tool is based on IMAP Protocol to import your Gmail emails to Outlook, unlike the previous tool that was based on POP protocol.
What data will be Imported from Gmail to Outlook in Migration process
As I mentioned before, the new tool has much-improved functionality and very easily imports emails from Gmail to Outlook. Here is what data will be imported to your Outlook account.
- All your Gmail Emails will be imported.
- All your Google Contacts will also be imported. You can find the contact list in your Outlook account.
- Your read Emails will be shown as Read, and unread Emails will be shown as unread.
Instructions to Migrate from Gmail to Outlook
Step 1: Create or Login to your Outlook account (you can also use your Hotmail and Xbox account to log in).
Step 2: After signing in, click on Gear or Setting icon then on “More mail settings.”
Step 3: Now on Settings > Click on “Import email accounts.”
Step 4: Now you should see “Choose from where you want to import your account:”.
Step 5: Below that click on “Google” (Gmail and Contacts).
Step 6: Now, click on Start.
Step 7: Now you’ll be asked to log in to your Gmail account, Login using your Gmail Credentials.
Step 8: Click on Accept button in the next window.
Step 9: Now Outlook will import all your Gmail Emails and Contacts.
That’s it! Once the importing process completes you can view all your Gmail emails in your Outlook account.
- You can see your Gmail import status on your Outlook account.
- If you want to stop the importing process then simply click on Stop Importing.
