Fix Limited or No Connectivity Problem in Windows 8


Recently upgrade your computer to Windows 8.1 or Windows 8? Then the limited or no connectivity message must be annoying you. Well, you are not alone. Some of the users who upgraded to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 are complaining about limited connectivity or no connectivity message.

So, in today’s guide we will help you to resolve limited or no connectivity message in Windows 8.1 Laptop or PC. You can apply this guide if you have this problem with Wi-Fi connection or if you are connected to the internet through LAN then do try this and let us know if it’s working.


We will begin with easy methods to solve this problem. So, follow all the methods one by one to see which one works for you.

Method 1: Reset TCP/IP stack using netsh.exe

Resetting your TCP / IP stack can also fix the limited or no connectivity issue in Windows 8.1. To know how to reset the TCP / IP settings, follow these steps.

Step 1: Press Windows Key + x + a key to open the command prompt. You can also do this manually, but remember that you should open the command prompt as administrator.

Step 2: Copy and paste the following command in the command prompt window

netsh int ip reset C:resetlog.exe

Step 3: Restart you computer to see if it worked and solved your problem.

If it does work then no more steps to follow.  Enjoy your internet uninterruptedly.

Method 2: Change Wi-Fi Power Management setting

Okay, if the first method didn’t work then try this one. This method is related to changing your WiFi power management settings. Here is how to do it.

Step 1: Press Windows Key + W and type “network and sharing center” in the search bar

Step 2: Click on “Network and Sharing Center.”

Step 3: Double-click on your Wi-Fi or LAN connection name and select “properties.“

Step 4:  in the Properties window, click on “Configure.”

Step 5: In the next window, click on “Power Management“ Tab

Step 6: Now uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” box (if only already checked)

Step 7: Click on OK and Login or Reboot your system to save the changes

Method 3: Disconnect LAN and Reconnect

Well, this is the most common thing everyone does to fix limited connectivity issue. If you haven’t tried this then just disconnection your LAN network cable from your PC and modem. Once done, reconnect your LAN connection and see if this has resolved the issue.  If you are on Wi-Fi, then this is not for you.

Method 4: Reset TCP IP Auto Tuning


If nothing seems to be working then try this three commands one after another. Some users have solved their issue with this method.

Step 1: Open command prompt by Pressing Windows Key + x + a key.

Step 2: Type or copy/paste all the three command given below one after another

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled

netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

Step 3: Now Restart/Reboot your computer.

  1. nope none of this stuff works….. I wanted to switch back from Mac to Win and thought I give it a try…. but that I would have to to command line level to connect to a LAN-network is just too messed up.

I don’t want to spend hours searching internet for all sort of hacker solutions. The goal was to play a game and not to configure network all evening…. I suddenly remember why I changed to Mac in the first place.

  3. Tried all of these methods. None of them make it beyond 5 minutes. I use Thinkpad Yoga, and really none of the methods make it beyond 5 minutes before dropping out. Searched everywhere and is there no other methods?
