In a shocking report published by CNN, it has said that nearly 2 Million Login Credentials from Social Networking sites like Facebook, Gmail and Twitter has been hacked by the hackers. Hackers used a keylogging software to hack these passwords and got access to 2 million passwords.
The hacking process was started on October 21, 2013. According to Cybersecurity firm Trustwave, hackers has used keylogging software, they installed it on a large number of computers around the world, but the exact figure is not known.
The main purpose of keylogging software is to capture the login credentials like a password from websites like Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo and Twitter and sends the sensitive data through a proxy server to the hackers.
According to CNN, on November 24 Trustwave tracked the hackers server location, and they found that it is located in Netherlands. More than 93,000 websites credentials were hacked, and some of the most infected websites are as follows.
- 318,000 Facebook accounts
- 70,000 Google service accounts (Gmail, Google+ and YouTube accounts )
- 60,000 Yahoo accounts
- 22,000 Twitter accounts
- 9,000 Odnoklassniki accounts
- 8,000 ADP accounts
- 8,000 LinkedIn accounts
Except Google, most of the sites have requested their users, whose password has been hacked to reset the password. Google declined to comment on it.
